Radio Scilly is the world’s smallest professional radio station. The non-profit station broadcasts to the 1,600 inhabitants of the island, and is run by local volunteers. The schedule includes programmes by the taxi guy, the dog warden, two policemen and a publican!

‘Little Boots’ is a 24-year-old singer from Blackpool who makes records in her bedroom and posts them on YouTube. Victoria Hesketh has not even released a single yet but such is her following that she has just topped a BBC poll of more than 130 music industry experts, to find the most promising new talent of the year.
They think she is due to take her little boots and follow in the footsteps of the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Keane, Razorlight and the Ting Tings. Her first single is due out in May. Meanwhile Little Boots’ Stuck On Repeat song is available as a free download on iTunes this week.

I’ve just signed up for a new music service called Blip.fm. I love the way this site is put together. It’s a cross between a blog and your own personal radio station. With each short post, you attach some music for visitors to listen to.
You can make your own playlists, or listen to other users with similar tastes. I’m finding it so addictive, it’s hard to pull myself away from it. It’s even better than Last.fm, and that’s saying something.
