Here’s some more Flash-based online entertainment … Like most addictive games, Escapa is very, very simple. There’s a red square in a field of white that you control with your mouse. Four blue rectangles of varying shapes move around the same field and you have to avoid them and the black border. It’s easy until the blue shapes start moving faster and faster. You’re doing well if you break 18 seconds.

Rumour has it that this game is used to test hand-eye coordination in US Air Force Pilots. Here’s the secret behind the game: The motion of the blue shapes isn’t random. Yes, they move faster and faster, but the more you play, the more you realize that they follow a script. Knowing this will help you master at least the first 15 seconds. You will be doing well to beat this time, because tfter that, everything gets incredibly fast!

I’ve put together three of the most addictive games on the Web. These should keep you entertained all day long, after all that’s the main purpose of the Internet!

1. KooZac is completely and utterly addictive. Like most of the best games, the idea is simple: Falling blocks must be arranged to make the sum total you see in the top right hand corner. Use your cursor keys to move the falling blocks left and right, and speed them up by pressing Down.

When the numbers add up, the block will explode - adding more points to your score. You need to concentrate hard, as you have to do some very quick mental arithmetic to succeed.

2. Bejeweled is a classic Flash game, originally called Diamond Mine. It involves moving multicoloured gems around in order to create sets of three. Again. it’s simple, but incredibly addictive.

3. Meteor Jazz is a superb reworking of the classic arcade game. You are in charge of a hi-tech space fighter, and your mission is to nuke stray meteors and other space junk. Just gorgeous!
