Anatomy of a new web design
Well it’s finally here … the new WiseCat design! It’s taken me 5 years to get here, but then us Cats like to ponder a bit before we take that all-important leap!
It’s taken all that time just to decide on the new logo, finally cutting my short-list down to about 30 different cat images, and finally going with the “Cat with glasses” puddy.
So, at the end of the last year, I finally got my act together and decided to take a short break and concentrate on getting the “new look” up and running.
I’ve switched from using Blogger to using Wordpress, hosting the software on my own server. Updating via the Blogger servers was getting way too unreliable, with ever more frequent time-outs. Also, Wordpress offers a lot more in the way of customisation, with dozens of add-ons available too.
I also wanted to do more in-depth postings, rather than the short and sweet web links I’ve been doing up until now, so Wordpress seemed ideal.
I’ve struggled to update daily, due to other things happening in my life, so have decided that posting three times a week might prove a more workable option, including more stuff and switching to a more chatty style.
I thought perhaps Mondays could be Useful Stuff, Wednesdays General Stuff and Fridays Hey its the Weekend Fun Stuff .
Hope you also like the new daily Wisdom quotes, and the Cool Tools. I’m also doing my bit to help Save the Planet.
I’ve included links to the latest posts from Zen Habits, my favourite inspirational blog, at the bottom of the page, and got some more ideas in the pipeline too!
Let’s see how it goes anyway … enjoy.
PS Access to the old website is still available - see link on the right.
